Some of the Issues:
Today Tanzania remains
one of the poorest countries in the world. Its economy is heavily dependent on
agriculture which provides jobs for nearly 80% of the population but only on
around 4% of the land area. The government struggles to raise taxes needed to
provide basic services and provisions expected in a modern society – including
infrastructure, health and education. 35% of the population live below the
poverty line and over half of the population is under 15 years of age.
At FACETA we recogise
we can never provide all of the support needed to improve the education system
in Tanzania; we are a small grass roots charity that currently relies on donor
contributions and support, therefore we are operating solely in Dodoma region.
